What is HVO?

< 1 min read

HVO, or Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil, is a renewable diesel fuel derived from sustainable raw materials such as vegetable oils, animal fats, or used cooking oils. Through a hydrotreatment process, these materials are converted into a clean, high-quality fuel that can serve as a direct replacement for conventional diesel. HVO offers several benefits, including reduced greenhouse gas emissions, improved air quality, and compatibility with existing diesel engines.

Unlike biodiesel, which relies on a process called transesterification, HVO undergoes hydrotreatment, resulting in a product chemically identical to fossil diesel. This ensures superior performance, stability, and reliability while significantly lowering environmental impact. HVO is gaining popularity in industries such as transportation, agriculture, and heating, making it an excellent choice for businesses and individuals looking to reduce their carbon footprint.
